Apply for Funding

Looking to fund an event, project, or grow your organization’s budget? There are several campus funding sources available—each with its own application process and requirements. Some are quick forms, while others may involve additional paperwork or a short presentation to a funding board.
If a presentation is required, one member of your org will share why your project matters and how funds will be used. Not all funding bodies require this step—but be ready just in case!

Committee on Ethnic Programming (CEP)
The Committee on Ethnic Programming provides funding for undergraduate students—both individuals and registered student organizations—who are planning projects that support campus diversity. Funded projects should aim to enhance the retention and advancement of underrepresented students at UCSC.
Core Council
Note: Core Council is currently under review. Check back for updated information.
Student organizations registered with SOAR, Athletics & Recreation, or Student Media may apply for Core Council funding to support student-initiated events, projects, and activities held on campus. Funding decisions consider factors like the number of UCSC students who will directly benefit from the event, along with other criteria.
Campus Sustainability Council (CSC)
The Campus Sustainability Council funds registered UCSC student organizations that promote environmentally responsible practices on campus. Guided by the Blueprint for a Sustainable Campus, CSC supports programs and events that help implement and monitor sustainable solutions. These student-led efforts also foster collaboration among students, staff, faculty, administration, and the broader community.
Alumni Council
The Alumni Council is a volunteer board supporting the UC Santa Cruz Alumni Association. As part of a pilot program, the Council is offering funding to students and student organizations creating events, projects, or activities that support career success for both students and alumni.

Division of Student Affairs and Success (DSAS)
The Division of Student Affairs and Success (DSAS) offers funding to support student-led events and initiatives that promote wellness, engagement, and equity. Funding is available to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), university-recognized groups (like SUA, GSA, SFAC, SVC, and College Governments), and student-initiated events sponsored by campus departments. Each funded project must be affiliated with a university unit that can sponsor, advise, and manage the funds.
To be considered, funding requests must be submitted at least three weeks before the funds are needed. Students should also allow time for internal timelines and administrative processes like travel, contracts, or service payments. Awards typically range from $100 to $2,000, depending on the event type, and funded projects must occur within the academic year. To apply, fill out the DSAS Funds Request Form. Questions can be directed to Lucy Rojas at larojas@ucsc.edu.
Student Union Assembly (SUA)
The Student Union Assembly (SUA) can provide funding only to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), as outlined in its Bylaws. This funding supports efforts that contribute to a successful academic and social experience at UC Santa Cruz.
