At UC Santa Cruz, students don’t just join organizations—they lead them. Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) are student-initiated, student-led organizations recognized by the University of California and supported through SOMeCA: Student Organization Advising & Resources (SOAR), Student Media, and Cultural Arts & Diversity (CAD).
Rooted in the Student Agency Model, RSOs offer real-world experience in leadership, collaboration, budgeting, advocacy, and event planning. They’re also one of the most powerful ways to build community, connect with peers, and create a sense of belonging on campus. With guidance from dedicated SOMeCA advisors, students build skills that prepare them for life now and beyond college—academically, professionally, and personally.
